Psalm 62:11,12 "One thing God has spoken, two things I have heard, that to you, Lord, belong power and glory."  David wrote these words.

  God sent David, a shepherd boy, on a mission, but David thought it was just a simple task.  A mission is much greater than a task, and it has an ultimate purpose.  David's father was a catalyst.  He gave David a simple task, "Go!  Take this cheese to your brothers, and tell me how they're doing".  Dad was worried about his sons and wanted to know how they were doing at the battle line.  But God was on a mission to use a young man to defeat the entire Philistine army and save His people, Israel.  If we are obedient in the small tasks, we are ready to serve God.  He will sometimes take us to a place that He ordained for a specific and great purpose, but we are unaware of the magnitude of the mission.  After all, God knows all things and our vision is very limited.  God's plans for your life are intricate, detailed, and powerful. 

  David, the shepherd, obediently took the cheese to his brothers, defeated the threatening giant, Goliath, and was invited to live with King Saul.  But those were only stepping stones to the magnificent mission God planned all along.  David became the second King of Israel of whom God said that His seed, the Messiah, would descend from his family line!  What an awesome result from such a small task.  "Who took the cheese?"  David, the shepherd boy.  He loved God with all his heart.  God sent him on a simple task which became a great mission with purpose and promotion.  The Father of all creation had a definite purpose when David's dad sent him on his way with a bundle of cheese.  Your life is filled with purpose too.  God has a great mission for you to accomplish, more than you can imagine. 

  Luke 16:10-11" Unless you are trustworthy in small matters, you won't be with greater responsibilities."  Be faithful in the small tasks, and you will be promoted.  David learned that power belongs to God.  Go to 1Samuel 17:27 to read more about this true story.
